 Part 1: Help Your Teammates to Develop Capstone Ideas

One capstone idea my team has been discussing is a family gps app, similar to life360. The goal is to implement google maps api and integrate gps into the app. Another idea that has been floating around our group chat is a health app for appointment reminders, information about check up importance, information about all kinds of common diseases, and a build in translator for non native english speakers so that they can communicate with health care professionals. I had the idea to make an improved redactions app, where you can upload a database with keywords to auto redact. Formatting would be crucial but if successful you'd be able to redact documents extremely fast and effectively. Human review would still be necessary but it would be a goldmine of an app to sell if it pans out. 

 

Part 2: Keep Up With Your Learning Journal

This week was fairly short, we reviewed resumes and cover letters as well as viewed a really informative interview. Professor Tao had a video posted that informed us about what companies look out for in new hires, that video was a must watch. The career guide was very informative and has opened my eyes on what to expect when searching for a job/interview. Once that time comes I'm confident that I will be well prepared for whatever comes my way. So far my team and I have yet to start working on the final presentation projects, we all have been extremely busy or sick outside of class. However we have talked about topics and are beginning to delegate roles so the wheels are at least turning. The ethics essay is coming up in a few more days and I still feel like I have a lot of work to do before I find it to be a good quality essay. Procrastination as always is getting the better of me. I have been learning a lot though about AI through the essay assignments. I've learned how to pretty much get an exact desired result via my prompts given to AI, so I'm looking forward to taking advantage of that. We also had to make a shell website for our ILP, which at first was very frustrating but after I spent some time looking through the tools and playing around with the website I was able to generate something I was proud of. I still need to find a better font color or background because it doesn't look to great as is. The web design aspect was a bit more fun that I thought it would be. Perhaps web design would be something fun to dabble in? Find out next time on Dragon Ball....yeah see ya next week.

Computer Science BS Journal (CST363) : Week 7

 This week we installed and used MongoDB. It was super new to me and I haven't really used the command prompt very much so when I was running into errors while trying to load my JavaScript file I got a bit irritated. I got it working eventually after realizing I had to move my file to a different directory and type out the full path when trying to load it. That solved all my issues. I followed the same steps when loading the other two files provided for the lab and it went smoothly. Here are some things I noticed when comparing Mongo DB with MySQL.  Class: CST363-30_2253 ( Intro to Database Systems) SQL has the flexibility to join tables on any column(s) using any predicate (=, >, < ).    Most of the time the join will use equality between a primary and foreign key.   Think of example where joining on something other than keys would be needed.  Write the query both as an English sentence and in SQL.  If you can't think of your own example, search the textbook or internet for an example.
