Computer Science BS journal: Week 1

     This week was the start of module 1 in the CST300 course and it was already loaded with assignments. Though they were all fairly simple, the outline I found to be a bit time consuming. I'm really enjoying our group projects thus far and look forward to working with my group in future projects, so far it has just been simple team building projects. I can't wait to work on something more challenging with them. This weeks lecture was basically reminding us about plagiarism and the repercussions involved with being a cheater as well as informing us that we will stick to an APA format for all of our writing assignments. I used to hate citing references but I found a good google add-on that will cite my page in whatever format I need it to as well as provide an in-text citation. That saved me a good amount of time on my recent outline. We also got to do some distance introductions this week. I had to do something similar in a previous class so it was simple and quick. But I don't think I'll ever not be nervous behind a camera. That about sums it up for this week, looking forward to what will come next week.

Computer Science BS Journal (CST363) : Week 7

 This week we installed and used MongoDB. It was super new to me and I haven't really used the command prompt very much so when I was running into errors while trying to load my JavaScript file I got a bit irritated. I got it working eventually after realizing I had to move my file to a different directory and type out the full path when trying to load it. That solved all my issues. I followed the same steps when loading the other two files provided for the lab and it went smoothly. Here are some things I noticed when comparing Mongo DB with MySQL.  Class: CST363-30_2253 ( Intro to Database Systems) SQL has the flexibility to join tables on any column(s) using any predicate (=, >, < ).    Most of the time the join will use equality between a primary and foreign key.   Think of example where joining on something other than keys would be needed.  Write the query both as an English sentence and in SQL.  If you can't think of your own example, search the textbook or internet for an example.
